Getting Started

Download files and create your design digitally, print out templates or go old-school and start from scratch. Whatever works for you is cool with us.

You can submit your own design created in whatever medium works for you. If you prefer digital, work your magic in PhotoShop or some other photo editing software. Rather work on paper? That's fine — print out blank car templates and design away, then scan your designs and upload them to enter. If you've really got skills, start with a blank sheet of paper and show us what you can do.

Ground Rules

As you begin to think through your design, remember that the base color of the car must remain red and the Bullrun and Black Magic logos each have to be incorporated into the design at least once. Beyond these basic guidelines, the sky's the limit!

Below you'll find a number of tools to assist in revving up your creative process. Download them all or just a few, it's your call!

No Photoshop? No Problem!

Don't worry if you don't have fancy photo editing software like Photoshop. There are several free high-performance Photoshop alternatives out there. Here are just a few:

• GIMP - GIMP is probably the most popuplar free Photoshop alternative out there. It works on Windows, Mac and Linux. While it doesn't have every feature that Photoshop has, GIMP comes pretty close.
• Paint.NET - If you're a Windows user, Paint.NET is a great option. There's an active online community, and a lot of plugins available.
• PhotoPlus SE - This one's the freeware version of a commercial software package. Plenty of features like layer management, filters, adjustments and image optimization.
• Seashore - Seashore is based on GIMP's technology, but it is built on Mac OS X's Cocoa framework. So if you're a Mac user, this is a simple alternative.
